JOSHUA LOGIE

for

School Board Trustee, District E

WHY ELECT JOSHUA?

Joshua is someone you can TRUST to represent our community in steering the Clark County School District to PREPARE EVERY CHILD through the BEST EDUCATION we can possibly offer!

KEY ISSUES

Talent Management

Providing our students with the best education possible starts with recruiting, developing, and retaining teachers and staff.

Chronic Absenteeism

Through family and community engagement, efforts must increase to get students into the classroom. Absenteeism negatively impacts all students by draining resources in an attempt to keep absent students on track.

Student Safety

Students deserve to learn without fear. Deliberate efforts must continue to ensure tragedy is avoided through proactive, smart decisions.

Proactive Problem Solving

Families and teachers are the best resources for identifying problem areas. Increased efforts to hear their concerns and take appropriate action will boost student success.

Student Accountability

As students progress they need to be held increasingly accountable for performance and decisions. They will not be able to be successful members of society if they are pushed through the system.

WHAT MAKES JOSHUA THE RIGHT CANDIDATE?

Joshua spent over 20 years as an Air Force leader developing the skills and experience required to develop and lead successful teams. These skills include: maximizing budgets to provide resources; developing and working with teams to complete complex tasks; engaging the community to support common goals; taking a stand against anything that steers a team away from its mission and vision; finding, developing, and retaining talent to ensure continued success; navigating challenging situations to get to "yes" in support of goals.

HOW WILL JOSHUA MAKE IT HAPPEN?

Success of the school board depends upon teamwork, collaboration, and focus amongst the community and board. Joshua is well known as someone who excels at building relationships, finding common ground, and driving action toward desired outcomes.

ABOUT JOSHUA LOGIE

With 3 kids attending public school within District E at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and a wife teaching third grade within District E, Joshua has a strongly vested interest in representing District E as a trustee of the school board. Las Vegas (District E) has been home for 7 years. He and his family have grown roots in this wonderful community and Joshua looks forward to serving the people who make it so great!

He grew up in Aurora, Colorado and is a product of the public school system. In 2002, Joshua graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor's degree in political science and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

Over his 20-year Air Force career he served as an aircraft maintenance officer, bomber pilot, and unmanned aircraft pilot. Joshua's career included numerous leadership positions, culminating as a squadron commander at Creech Air Force Base in Indian Springs, NV. He continues to work at Creech Air Force Base as an instructor pilot.

While serving in the Air Force Joshua earned master's degrees in business management and leadership, and military operational art and science.

Joshua and his family moved several times over the course of his military career which exposed him to public school systems of varying national ranking across 5 different states. This perspective and experience would make him a valuable asset to the school board.

Teaching, coaching, and volunteering with youth have always been Joshua's passions. Beginning in college and throughout his military career he participated in and created volunteer mentorship programs with schools in local communities. These programs strived to connect kids who needed positive role models with adult mentors. Additionally, he coached youth sports for 10 years.

In 2023 Joshua got the opportunity to be a teaching intern within the Air Force Junior ROTC program at Palo Verde High School, which further sparked his desire to become a teacher in near future!

Joshua was elected and served as President of the Bonner Elementary School Organizational Team (SOT) in 22-23 and is currently a member of the Palo Verde High School SOT.

Q&A

Why are you running for school board?

I've always been someone who would prefer to become part of the solution than to sit around and complain. The concerns that I have are echoed by the community, teachers, administrators, and students who I engage with on a regular basis. I'm eager to serve the constituents of District E and to utilize my calm-under pressure approach to consensus building to create an environment for student success within CCSD.

How would District E benefit from your presence on the school board?

As a steward for the constituents of District E, I would seek to represent their interests through accessibility and responsiveness.

I'm well aware that there's no way to make everyone happy, however, by listening to the people who are closest to the process I am confident that I can represent the community in steering the school board towards outcomes that benefit our students to the maximum extent possible.
